What are Channels?

Channels are group chats design to construct communication around a specific topic. They are a great way to share information and files with multiple participants, while avoiding unnecessary noise for all participants. They are a highly efficient way to organize conversations around common themes. Ideal for large teams, distributed teams and multi-national teams.

To open a new channel, on the left panel click on the plus sign next to the title channels.

On the right right side of the screen you can access all the files transferred in the channel (all posts or flagged posts), view the list of participants and change how you want to be notified.

Internal Channels
These are great for ongoing topics, projects and other internal matters. Anyone on your team can create or discover a team channel, anyone inside your company can be invited. Because information exchanged is private to your company, external users can only be added by your company admins. Any new parties added will be able to see the history of the channel, Notifications can be customized but always default to @mentions only.

Private Channels
These are great for confidential matters, groups, or projects. They and can include anyone from inside or outside your company. It is just a group chat for communicating and sharing files where the company creating the private channel always remains in control of its participants. Notifications can be customized but by default are produced for all messages.
