How do notifications work?

Notifications are an important way to stay on top of things on Candex that require your attention.

Global Notification Preferences
Your Candex notification preferences can be adjusted in your personal settings. And remember that you also have the ability to customize notifications for each activity.

Desktop sound:  Your desktop can generate a sound for each @mention received.

Desktop push notifications:  Your desktop can generate a toast notification (popup) each time you are @mentioned. This capability is available in Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and the Candex windows app but it does not work on Microsoft Explorer or Edge.

Mobile push notifications:  Mobile push notifications are available for users that install the Candex Apps for mobile (iOS or Android). When turned on, users receive push notifications for @mentions.

Email digest of push notifications:  You can receive emails to keep you informed about new messages received on Candex. They will not be sent for messages that you have read and you can choose how often you would like to receive these emails.  Most users choose to turn off email notifications once they install our mobile app.

Customizing notifications for activities
Your notification preference can be customized for each activity.  Just click on the arrow on the right of your screen and then click on the notification icon.

In the top section, you decide what you want to count as an @mention.  If you choose all, you will be notified for everything; you can also be notified for @yourname, @all, and @online or only if someone types @yourname.

The check boxes at the bottom allow you to turn off push notifications so you are not notified on your mobile, desktop or by email or to make it so the bolding effect is turned off for unreads messages on the side panel of your screens.
